Terms used in RTW fare construction, route logic, ticketing and advisor workflow.

Number of adult passengers (18+).
Advertisable
If enabled, this can appear on marketing surfaces.

Amber
Verify before quoting (limited seats, expiry soon).
Archived
Historical / no longer offered.
Around-the-world logic
The planning discipline of moving a traveller around the globe in a coherent sequence rather than pricing unrelated flights.
Arriving station
Destination station.
Arriving to
Destination airport (type LAX/NRT or city name).
Availability / confidence
Green = good, amber = verify, red = at risk.
Availability notes
Why amber/red (stop sell, blackout dates, limited inventory).
Availability status
Green/amber/red for tour seats.
Backhaul
A movement that appears to go backwards relative to the main direction of travel.
Backtracking
Reverse movement against the expected direction of travel in a fare product or route structure.
Baggage
Included baggage allowance (checked/cabin).
Booking class
RBD e.g. Y, W, J, C (inventory bucket).
Booking details
Voucher info, confirmation expectations, check-in requirements.
Booking notes
Internal notes for the team and booking process.
Business Class
Lie-flat seats, lounge access, premium service.
Cabin
Economy / Premium Economy / Business / First.
Cabin Class
Travel class preference.
Cabin mix
An itinerary where different sectors are booked in different cabins such as economy, premium economy or business.
Cancellation & terms
What the guest must accept (cancellation, payment, rules).
Cancellation fee
Fees for cancellation/refund (if applicable).

Cancellation/refund conditions.
Carrier-Imposed Surcharge
A carrier charge added to the ticket in addition to base fare and government/airport taxes.
Change fee
Fees for changes (if applicable).

Change conditions and penalties.
Check-in
Guest check-in date (maps to departure_date / stay start).
Check-out
Guest check-out date (often derived from nights).
Children
Number of child passengers (typically 2–17).
Circle fare
A fare structure that moves around a region or ocean basin and returns to the starting country or region without necessarily being a full RTW journey.
Class
Seating/service level (e.g., Economy, First, Sleeper).
Codeshare
A flight marketed by one airline but operated by another.
Component
Operational term from the previous RTW Airfares lexicon. Concept key: module.
Concept key
The abstract label identifier used by the resolver.
Conditions
Link to conditions, fare rules, and ticketing notes.
Connection buffer
Extra time allowed between flights or tickets to reduce missed-connection risk.
Connections
Short connections between sectors.
Constructed fare
A fare built from multiple fare components or pricing units rather than a simple published point-to-point fare.
Cruise Line
The operator / brand providing this cruise product.
Currency
Currency code for amounts (e.g. AUD, USD).
Days
Optional alternate display (days).
Departing from
Origin airport (type SYD/LHR or city name).
Departing station
Origin station (e.g., Central Station Sydney).
Departure / Fare
What sales picks for a quote (dated, priced, conditions).
Departure / Session
Sellable dated tour with pricing and availability.
Departure date
Primary departure date (or start of travel window).
Destination priority
The ranking of must-have and nice-to-have destinations in the route plan.
Disembark port
Schema stores an airport_id; label as port for cruise UX.
Draft

Drop-off
Destination point.
E-ticket number
Ticket number (after issuance).
Economy
Standard class with basic amenities.
Embark
Short label for public cards (if used).

Date the guest boards the ship.
Embarkation window
If flexible or range-based departures are used.
End-on-end
A pricing approach where separate fares are combined to create a complete journey.
Estimated taxes/fees

Marketing-friendly story: moments, scenery, onboard vibe.
Expired
Past validity window.
Fare / Departure
Sellable dated fare (price, booking rules, validity windows).
Fare basis
Airline fare basis code (pricing/conditions identifier).
Fare brand
Branded fare family e.g. Lite / Classic / Flex / Saver.
Fare break point
A point where one fare component ends and another begins.
Fare component
A portion of an itinerary priced under a specific fare rule between two fare break points.
Fare family
A branded or bundled fare option that may include baggage, seats, flexibility or other conditions.
Fare Ladder
A structured comparison of route or product options, usually showing cheaper, balanced and premium/flexible approaches.
Fare name
Short human label e.g. "Saver Business" / "Flex Economy".
Fare notes
What the customer/sales team should know at a glance.
Fare option
Displayed as a selectable fare option.
Fare record
Internal admin label for dated/priced fare records.
Fare rules URL
Link to full fare rules / tariff text if available.
First Class
Private suites, highest level of luxury.
Flexibility (days)
How many days before/after preferred date the customer is flexible.
Flight
Reusable flight definition (carrier/routing defaults). Pricing lives on dated fares.
Flight definition
Internal admin label for reusable flight objects.
Flight time
Block time / duration for the journey or main sector.
Flights
Marketing-friendly label for flight components.
Forced overnight
An overnight stay caused by schedule timing rather than traveller preference.
Gateway city
A major entry or exit city for a region or continent.
GDS
Reservation system (Amadeus/Sabre/Travelport/etc).
Geographic logic
The route’s physical movement through regions, continents and oceans.
Green
Good availability, confident to sell.
Gross sell
Displayed to customer depending on visibility.
Hard stop
A destination or date that cannot be moved.
Hero image
Used in marketing cards and landing pages.
Hidden complexity
Risk or operational difficulty that is not obvious from the map or initial price.
Highlights
What is included / why this is good (baggage, flexibility).
Hotel
Marketing may prefer “Hotel” for cards rather than “Property”.
Hotel / Chain
Who provides the accommodation (property brand/operator).
Hotel instance (room+rate)
Developer-facing naming for the sellable variant.
Hotel module (property)
Developer-facing naming for the underlying object.
Hours
Rare for hotels; use only for day-use / late check-out products.
How to book
Supplier instructions, booking steps, voucher notes, deadlines.
How to book rail
Platform, e-ticket delivery, boarding requirements.

A sector with limited valid booking-class availability that controls whether the whole itinerary can work.

Journey / Sector

What customer/sales should know (scenic highlights, onboard facilities).

Dated, priced train segment.
Journey time
Total travel time in hours (including stops if relevant).
Location / Area
Where the property is (CBD, beach, district, etc.).

Eligibility rules for lounge access.
Margin
Your margin (amount or % depending on UI).
Married Segment
Flight availability sold as a linked combination of sectors rather than independently.
Maximum Permitted Mileage
A mileage threshold used by some fares to validate or price a route.

Maximum stay requirement (if any).
Meals
Meal inclusions and service notes.
Meeting point
Start location/instructions.
Mileage cap
The maximum permitted mileage for a fare or product.
Minimum Connection Time
The minimum scheduled time required to connect between flights at an airport under normal rules.

Module
Developer/internal neutral term (do not show to sales/marketing).
Multi-City
A booking with multiple flight sectors or city pairs. It may or may not be a formal RTW fare.
Neighbourhood
Local context: CBD, waterfront, beachside, etc.
Nett
Net cost (clarify per person/cabin in notes).
Nett (our cost)
What we pay the supplier/wholesaler.
Nett (sell basis)
If per person vs per cabin, clarify in booking notes.
Nett cost
Internal cost field used for margin reporting.
Nett fare
Net cost to you (excluding your markup).
Nights
Length of stay in nights.
No-show
No-show penalties / ticket value forfeiture rules.
Offer status
Internal traffic-light status (green/amber/red).
Onboard highlights
Bullet points: panoramic windows, meals included, sleeper berths.
Open Jaw
A routing gap where the traveller arrives into one city and departs from another, or starts and ends in different cities.
Open segment
A sector where the date, flight or reservation is not fully confirmed at ticketing.
Package only
Prices hidden unless part of itinerary.
Pickup
Origin point (airport, hotel, port).
Pickup info
Signs, contact number, flight tracking.
PNR
Record locator / booking reference.
Point of Turnaround
The logical point where a journey has reached its furthest/reversing point for fare-construction analysis.
Ports of call & inclusions
Sales summary: ports, inclusions, key selling points.
Preferred cruise line override
Overrides default supplier for this sailing.
Preferred month
Month customer wants to travel (YYYY-MM format).
Premium Economy
Extra legroom, better meals, priority boarding.
Price
Customer-facing price label for the stay.
Price display
Who can see pricing (public/package/internal).
Price visibility
Whether prices show publicly or only in packages/internal.
Pricing unit
A portion of the itinerary that can be priced under fare construction rules.
Private Transfer
Emphasize luxury/convenience.
Property
A hotel product definition (the property itself).
Property image
Hero image used in cards/offers.
Property record
Admin wording for the property definition.
Protected connection
A connection where the onward sector is generally protected because it is part of the same ticket or protected itinerary.
Public
Prices shown openly on site.
Rail instance
Developer term for sellable variant.
Rail module
Developer term for base rail object.
Rail route record
Internal label for reusable train service.
Rate Code
Internal reference for this rate plan (optional).
Rate code (internal)
Used for supplier/wholesaler reference; not customer-facing.
Rate rules / Terms
Link to rate conditions, cancellation policy, inclusions, etc.
Red
High risk — do not quote without reconfirmation.
Refundability
Refundable / non-refundable / partially refundable.
Region
e.g., Mediterranean, Alaska, South Pacific.
Ride / Transfer

A structured airfare product or constructed itinerary designed to take a traveller around the world, usually with multiple international stopovers.

Sector path e.g. SYD–SIN–LHR.
Rule validation
The process of checking itinerary structure against fare-product rules before quoting.
Sailing
Sellable departure with pricing and dates.
Sailing code
Internal ref: sailing/fare/promo code.
Sailing name
What sales/marketing will recognise first.
Sale ends
When this rate/promo ends (sale/booking window).
Sale starts
When this rate/promo becomes valid for sale.
